Hello world!! My mama named me Kerri, but I’m often referred to as Red or Scrappy Doo. Welcome to MyGingerLife!
Wanna know more about me? Well, I’m a ginger. Duh. I live in beautiful British Columbia on the wet west coast of Canada with my awesome, hard working husband and our two hairy, slobbery golden retrievers. I love to cook and bake and balance that out with daily walks and hoisting heavy iron. I really love riding the couch watching my Vancouver Canucks or the Green Bay Packers. My favourite things include clean sheet night, doggie cuddles and sand between my toes.
My girls? Roxy is a 4 year old American Golden Retriever who has NO idea how big she is! She’s a huge goofball and makes me laugh out loud every day. Little Lacy is a 1 year old English Cream Retriever. She’s on the smaller side and is much more timid than her mentor. My first golden girl, Wrigley, will make some special appearances on here too, I’m sure. That girl was my heart dog to the core. Sadly, she was diagnosed with cancer when she was 7. The vet really couldn’t predict how long she’d be with us, but we managed to give her one more awesome year of belly rubs and beach days before we were convinced that she’d finally had enough. She was a fighter, that girl. My heart still aches for her every day.
Both girls are both certified therapy dogs. What does that mean? That means that we get to go to hospitals and care homes to visit people who aren’t lucky enough to get to live with dogs. It started out as a fun way to bond with my girls and spend more time with them. Little did I know how much we would grow to love our peeps and how much we’d look forward to our visits every week!
I’m hoping this blog will help me to remember how blessed I am to be living the life that I do!! There will stories about my crazy dogs’ antics, a little sports talk and I’ll probably whine about the constant state of renovations I live in. My husband finds the stories of my ginger life quite amusing. I think you might too. I’m glad to have you along for the ride!
